  The doctor was excellent. The nurse was excellent.The technicians were excellent. The support staff was not impressive at all. I was scheduled for surgical procedure at Cape Fear Valley Hospital which required pre-approval from my two insurance companies. This procedure was scheduled 6 weeks in advance so I was very surprised when I register at Cape Fear Valley Hospital and they have my name wrong and tell me that I will have to sign a waiver agreeing to pay the bill of several thousand dollars. I refuse. I did not get home before FHC calls me and someone in an irritated tone of voice want me to reschedule. I tell them I will call them back. after I get home. During this time I Am thinking that Cape Fear Hospital has messed up. So I request that the procedure be done at Wake Med. So when I call FHC I request that the procedure be moved and another irritated person who identified herself as the insurance approval expert gest on the phone and ask about my Medicare insurance. and then questioned me about my VA insurance. I have no government sponsored insurance. Obviously she had no clue as to who I was. She informed me that all hospitals required this waiver and that she had until the day of the surgery to get approval. She obviously did not what day it was either. She then informed me she would work on my case tomorrow. So I guess if my insurance company did not approve the procedure after the fact she had no problem with me waking up from surgery thousands of dollars in debt because she did not do her job.
